Brain Correspondant Harry made his annual trek to the Illinois State Fair earlier this month and made some on-the-spot recordings. Join us as we listen to and comment on those recordings. Plus, we learn about the legendary butter cow.
During this week’s chemistry lesson, you will hear baseball statistics, Joe Chin and Barry Fitzgerald (of TV’s “Ghost Hunters International” fame) live from Argentina, World of Warcraft, a WKRP review and a 1950’s field recording from New Zealand. You don’t want to miss this one, folks!
Before season 3 began, two “pilot” episodes were recorded. The first pilot was featured as the last bonus episode. This week, we present the second pilot episode. As with the first, Jay, Ken and Harry each made their own edit of the second one. Below are all three versions of the second season 3 pilot, now referred to as episode 44-4.
Three months after the season 2 finale was released, season 3 was ready to begin. Before jumping right back into the show, Jay, Ken and new host Harry decided to record two “pilot” episodes for season 3. Three of the reasons for the pilot episodes:
The dynamics of the new 3-host format needed to be worked out
They needed to get warmed up after having taken three months off between seasons
Instead of Jay editing every episode as he had in seasons 1 and 2, now they were going to have a rotating schedule where they would take turns editing. Since Ken and Harry had never edited an episode of the show, the two pilots were perfect practice for them.
They each made their own edit of both pilots. And here are the three versions of the previously unreleased first season 3 pilot, now referred to as episode 44-3.
